"Designed to connect and ground you back into your physical body through music and dance."

Movement is Medicine® is a method that was created by Emma combining the science of somatic therapy, nervous system regulation + much more alongside the ancient teachings of ecstatic dance and music as healing modalities.

The body really does keep the score, it holds onto sensations that have not been processed, which can manifest through physical, emotional or mental imbalances.

The body has an innate wisdom of being able to release. It's what animals do in the wild to release stress and trauma. Human's also have this wisdom, but we have just forgotten it. Through this practice you'll connect to your body again and feel how it wants to move and release.

The method starts with a somatic meditation created by Emma which uses a combination of pressure points, tapping, breath work, nervous system regulation techniques, sensory activation, vagal toning and much more to come into the body and out of the mind by creating body awareness about where we might be holding or storing trauma, stress or trapped emotions.

Once in the body, feeling safe, grounded and present we use movement techniques such as Qi Gong, Primal Shaking and freeform dance to release anything brought to the surface during the meditation and to bring the mind and body into a state of hyperarousal so we can shake off any excess stress that we have been carrying.

The dance part is not choreographed. The purpose of this teaching is to create feeling within the physical body and allow the participant to move and dance in a free flow state that feels good for them. Each person is different, which is what makes it so special because there is no doing this wrong.

This is all about tuning into the power of the mind-body connection and knowing how to work with that.

Music and dance has been used since the dawn of time to generate healing in indigenous tribes and communities around the world. In the West, our healing spaces in regards to music and dance are dominated by rave, festival and club culture.

So Emma combines the two.

With this method, once you understand it, you can implement it yourself without needing guidance, which is why it works, as it allows recipients to be consistent without having to go anywhere or purchase any equipment.

We have hundreds of testimonials that can be read here.
